ESRS Double Materiality Assessment tool — guided IRO scoring across ESRS topics
ESRS DMA

How It Works

Four structured steps from IRO library to a fully auditable CSRD materiality assessment and gap report.

01
Enter Your Company Data
Start by entering your company details and selecting your industry sector — the tool then matches the relevant IROs to your sector and global peers, so you're not starting from a blank page.
02
Score Materiality
Rate impact severity and financial significance across all topics using a structured scoring framework. The tool identifies which topics are material — and which you can confidently set aside.
03
Engage Stakeholders
Document consultations with internal and external stakeholders and map their perspectives to each IRO — with a full audit trail for assurance. Re-adjust scoring according to stakeholders' input.
04
Export DMA Report
Download your IRO list and materiality matrix — ready for board review.
Your outcome

Walk away knowing exactly which ESRS topics are material for your organisation — and which disclosures you can skip. A DMA typically takes 8–12 weeks manually; Yodiwo's DMA tool minimizes time and effort.

FAQ

ESRS DMA

What you need to know about ESRS, CSRD scope, and how the DMA tool accelerates compliance.

01
What is a Double Materiality Assessment?
A Double Materiality Assessment identifies which sustainability topics are material to your organization from two perspectives: (1) how your business impacts people and the environment (impact materiality), and (2) how sustainability issues affect your financial performance (financial materiality). ESRS requires both lenses, hence "double" materiality.
02
Who needs to do a DMA?
Any organization in scope for CSRD (the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) must complete a DMA as the first step of their reporting process. The DMA determines which topics are material to your organization and identifies the applicable data points — making it the most critical decision in the entire ESRS workflow.
03
How long does a DMA take without this tool?
Organizations using manual approaches or external outsourcing typically spend 3–6 months on the DMA process. The Yodiwo tool compresses this significantly as it is directed by a global IRO database — so you can complete a defensible DMA in days rather than months.
04
What outputs does the DMA tool produce?
Identifies and prioritizes the relevant material topics and produces a materiality matrix, IRO lists, stakeholder input, ESRS mappings, and ready-for-review documentation. The advanced AI-powered DMA tool also leverages EU-aligned databases and peer benchmarking to ensure consistency, traceability, and stronger support during assurance and audit processes.
05
How does the stakeholder engagement workflow work?
The platform provides structured templates for engaging both internal and external stakeholders. You document consultation outcomes, map stakeholder perspectives to specific IROs, and support the rationale behind each materiality decision — creating a clear, auditable trail.
06
What industries does the IRO database cover?
The database covers all sectors and includes Impacts, Risks, and Opportunities across environmental, social, and governance dimensions — pre-filtered to your specific industry so you're not starting from a blank page.
07
Can the DMA be updated for future reporting periods?
Yes. Once your first DMA is complete, you can update it annually to reflect changes in your business model, stakeholder feedback, and evolving regulatory guidance — without starting over. Your history is retained for year-on-year comparison.
